Tundra Distributors Inc.

Tundra Distributors Ltd., was first conceived by Nick Van Leeuwen (Civil Design Technician) and Dennis Olsen (Canopy Salesman), both from Abbotsford, BC. The idea was to become a truck canopy wholesale supplier for Northern BC, with the head office to be located in Prince George, BC. The idea was first discussed on New Years Eve 1984 and became reality in March 1985, with Dennis as Sales Manager and Nick as Business Manager.

We received our first load of truck canopies at 1702 Lyon Street on March 7, 1985, from Arrow Industries, who established Tundra Canopies as their exclusive representative for Northern BC. With good service and good pricing, Tundra Canopies soon established itself as the leader, eliminating three other canopy suppliers.

With the business well established, the company moved to a more visible location at 1805 Victoria Street, in 1989. With this move Tundra Canopies also became the exclusive supplier for a second factory, R & R Plastics Ltd. Early in 1989, Dennis decided to move on to Calgary. Nick then became sole owner. Later in 1989, Nick decided to move to the BCR site, where he designed and constructed his own yard and building.

Although many companies have come and gone, Tundra Canopies has remained the leader, well known and respected by all truck dealers throughout Northern BC and Northwest Alberta.

In 1996, Tundra Canopies took on the exclusive rights for Armaguard Spray Liners for North Central BC from the Alberta border to Prince Rupert. The leaders in new technology for polyurethane spray coating. Two new bays plus storage area was added to the existing building to accommodate this fast growing business.

The year, 2000, also brought change as R&R Plastics was dropped and two new factories came on line, Century and Rawhide, giving people a better selection.

Tundra Distributors Ltd. is continuing to grow and is equipped to service all truck Canopies, for all people, from all locations.
